Privacy policy
Effective 22 July 2026
Keelyr is a sailboat maintenance app operated by Navigator Technology (ABN 86 318 423 453). This policy explains what we collect, why, how we store and protect it, and the choices you have. It covers the Keelyr marketing website, web app, mobile apps and optional email resources. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). By using Keelyr you agree to this policy.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email, and password. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see them. With Google sign-in we receive your name and email, not your Google password.
- Vessel and maintenance data: what you record about your boat, its systems and usage, tasks, logs, defects, costs, spare parts, documents, and notes.
- Photos: images you submit for Visual Check and parts scanning.
- Vessel location (optional): a mooring or berth position you choose to add so the app can show weather forecasts and alerts for your boat. We ask for your consent before saving it, and you can remove it at any time.
- Payment details: handled by our payments provider Stripe. Keelyr never receives or stores your full card number.
- Technical data: basic usage, device information, and error reports that keep the app working and secure.
- Marketing-site usage: aggregate page views, CTA events, referring site, broad location, device and browser information collected through Vercel Web Analytics. CTA events contain a fixed placement label, not information you entered.
- Email resources (optional): your email address and optional first name when you ask for a checklist or buying-journey emails.
- Feedback and testimonials: feedback you choose to send and, only with your permission, the name and vessel context approved for publication.
How we use it
We use your information to run the app and build your prioritised maintenance plan, analyse photos you submit, process subscription payments, respond to support requests, understand which public pages and calls to action are useful, deliver email resources you request, publish consented testimonials, and keep the service secure. Keelyr is a planning aid: it does not replace a professional survey or a qualified marine technician, and its photo analysis is advisory only.
Marketing-site analytics
The public website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, referring sites and fixed-label CTA events. Vercel describes these measurements as aggregate and anonymous by default, without cookies or personal identifiers tied across sites. We do not put names, emails or other visitor-entered information into analytics events. Campaign parameters may identify a campaign or referral source but must not contain personal information.
Checklists and email updates
If you request a checklist, we add the email address and optional first name you provide to our Resend contact list so we can deliver the resource and the useful buying-journey emails described beside the form. Joining is optional and requires an unticked consent box. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe path. You can also ask us to remove the contact by emailing privacy@keelyr.com.au.
Reviews and testimonials
We publish customer feedback only with permission for that marketing use and limit identifying details to what the reviewer approves. A reviewer can withdraw permission at any time by emailing privacy@keelyr.com.au, and we will remove the testimonial from future versions of the site.
Photo analysis
When you use Visual Check or parts scanning, the photo you submit is sent to our analysis provider, Anthropic, which reads the image and returns a result. The result is advisory and never overrides your own judgement or a professional inspection. Only photos you choose to submit are sent.
Weather forecasts and alerts
If you add a location for your vessel, we use it to show wind and wave forecasts and to send any alerts you switch on. Only an approximate position (rounded to about 11 km) is sent to our weather provider, Open-Meteo, with no identifying details. When you search for a place by name, the search text is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service so it can suggest matches. Weather alert emails are optional and are delivered by our email provider, Resend; you can turn them off in the app or use the unsubscribe link in any alert email. Removing the location deletes it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the providers that run Keelyr, and only so they can do their part: Supabase (database, sign-in, and file storage), Anthropic (photo analysis), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting and aggregate website analytics), Sentry (error reports), Resend (weather alerts, requested resources and optional marketing emails), and Open-Meteo (weather forecasts; it receives only an approximate location and no identifying details). We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or others.
Where it is stored
Your information is stored and processed by the providers above. Some, including Anthropic, operate outside Australia, so some of your information (including photos you submit) may be processed overseas, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers that protect your information.
How we protect it
Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to your own account: our database enforces row-level security so other users cannot read your vessel's data, and uploaded photos sit in private storage reachable only through short-lived, signed links. No system is ever completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to fix problems quickly.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is active. Email-list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and a published testimonial is kept until permission is withdrawn or it is no longer useful. Aggregate analytics follow Vercel's configured retention. When you delete your account we remove the account-linked personal information described below, except anything we are required to keep to meet a legal or accounting obligation.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all your data at any time: sign in, openAccount, then chooseDelete account. This permanently removes your vessels and everything in them, including tasks, logs, defects, costs, parts, documents, notes, photos, and any stored weather location, and cannot be undone. An optional email-list contact or separately consented testimonial is not needed to operate your app account; unsubscribe or email privacy@keelyr.com.au if you also want either removed.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it if it is wrong, and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children and cookies
Keelyr is for boat owners and is not directed at children; we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The app uses cookies needed to sign you in and keep your session active. The public marketing site's Vercel Web Analytics is configured without analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the effective date above shows when it last changed, and we will tell you in the app if a change is significant. For any privacy question or request, email privacy@keelyr.com.au.
